Unexplained infertility is when fertility testing has not found a reason or cause to explain why the person or couple could not conceive despite having regular unprotected sex. It is only diagnosed as unexplained infertility after both partners have completed the fertility evaluations.

These test often reveals:

  • No uterine abnormalities or structural issues with your uterus

  • Ovulation occurs at regular intervals.

  • Your fallopian tubes are open, with no obstructions.

  • Your egg count is good (ovarian reserve).

  • Your brain produces normal levels of the hormones needed for reproduction.

  • Your partner’s semen analysis is regular (count, amount, motility and shape).

People diagnosed with unexplained infertility often have been trying to get pregnant for at least one year (if you're 35 or younger) or six months (if you're 35 or older).

Around 1 in 7 couples may have difficulty conceiving and about 84% of couples will conceive naturally within a year if they have regular unprotected sex (every 2 to 3 days)For couples who have been trying to conceive for more than 3 years without success, the likelihood of getting pregnant naturally within the next wear would be 1 in 4 or less.

Acupuncture and usually combined with Chinese Herbal Medicine can help improve fertility by regulating fertility hormones. Acupuncture also increases the number of good-quality eggs, optimises the uterine environment and reduces stress and anxiety. Research has also shown that acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can greatly increase fertility whether through natural conception or assisted reproduction by up to 60%.
